UPDATE JULY 2, 2019 1:08 PM EST:

  • The study mentioned here was based on a 2017 study from Rover.com using Google Surveys among 1,500 U.S. adult dog owners.

ORIGINAL STORY: The most indisputable fact about dogs is that you can never have too many pictures of them. Fall asleep in the cutest position? Snap. Crawl on your lap when you're watching TV? Snap. Get into the trashcan in your kitchen? Give them a stern talking-to and then... snap. (Because it's still funny.)

The results of a new study from Rover.com, a site that connects dog owners with dog sitters, give credence to our never-ending obsession with taking pictures of our pooch. The research revealed that 65 percent of dog owners admit to taking more photos of their dog than their significant other. That explains so much, while also kind of stating what we already knew: We love you, honey, but we all know who looks cuter in their sleep.

The study also revealed that nearly half of people polled say they find it harder to leave their dog for a week than their human counterpart, 94 percent of dog owners consider their dog a part of the family, and 56 percent greet their dog when they walk in the door—before saying hello to the rest of their family. Ouch.

The moral here? If anyone gives you sass about loving your dog too much (is there even such a thing?!), you now know you're not the only one a folder on your phone with 500 pictures of Daisy.
